FAQs
- How does tattoo numbing cream work?
Tattoo numbing cream works by blocking pain signals in the area it has been applied to from reaching the brain. It makes getting a tattoo a much more pleasant experience, especially if it is on a particularly sensitive area of the skin. Our signature tattoo numbing cream is highly rated by tattoo lovers and tattoo artists alike, allowing you to fully relax and get your tattoo completed in one session. For many, the most off-putting part of getting tattooed is the pain. Tattoo numbing cream works by numbing the surface of the skin for a short period of time (up to 3-4 hours) and offering highly effective pain relief.
- How to use tattoo numbing cream
In order to ensure maximum numbing, please DON’T DRINK ANY FORM OF ALCOHOL within 24 hours of tattooing, or the numbing may not be as effective or long-lasting. Please spot test the day prior to use on a small area that’ll be tattooed the next day, especially if you have sensitive skin for 10-20 mins on a small area to ensure that your skin doesn’t become inflamed. Some minor localized redness is normal. Steps for use:
- Wash and exfoliate the area to be tattooed, lasered or pierced quite thoroughly with soap, water and exfoliator to remove dirt and dead skin this will help the cream penetrate. Dry area completely.
- Apply a thick amount of numbing cream (2mm thick) to the area and rub in thoroughly.
- Cover with cling film. The heat under the plastic wrap helps activate the cream and keeps the cream from drying out.
- Leave cream and wrap in place for 90 minutes before procedure.
- After 90 minutes, remove the cling film and wipe the cream away with paper towel and you’re ready for your pain free tattoo!
- What else can tattoo numbing cream be used for?
Our signature tattoo numbing cream is most commonly used for those looking to reduce pain during tattoo sessions. Yet it has a wide range of other uses too, since it is safe to use anywhere on the body. Other uses for this cream include Tattooing,
Laser Hair Removal,
Waxing,
Injections, Blood tests, Vaccinations,
Lip Fillers, Permanent Makeup,
Piercings, and other cosmetic skin treatments. It can be used to numb any area of the skin so the potential possibilities for it are endless!
- How long does tattoo numbing cream last for?
The effects of tattoo numbing cream last for up to 3-4 hours after application. It will gradually become less effective and sensitivity will start to return to that area of the skin after this time. Keep in mind that it should be applied at least 30-60 minutes before a tattooing session for it to have maximum effect. This means that timing is crucial when it comes to applying the cream. You don’t want to apply it too late, but also not too early so that it begins to wear off during your session. If you know that your tattoo artist may need some time to set up, it might be a good idea to take your tube of tattoo numbing cream with you to the shop, so you can apply it at the right time.
- Are there any side effects with tattoo numbing cream?
Similar to applying any new substance to your skin, tattoo numbing cream can cause some minor side effects, although not everyone will experience them. A mild reaction (paleness or redness of the skin, slight puffiness, initial burning or itching) may temporarily occur in the area where the cream is used. This is not uncommon and should disappear in a short while. If you experience any troublesome or unusual effects, stop using it and check with your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible. If you know that you are prone to having sensitive skin, please test just a small amount first. Keep in mind that some minor localized redness is normal with tattoo numbing cream.
