Bud

When used in reference to tea the word ‘bud’ usually means a young and unopened tea leaf rather than a flower bud. If the tea mention is white tea, however, this can also refer to the flower of the plant. The finest and most prized teas usually contain only the top two tender leaves as well as an unopened bud.
